Espanola Island

Sunday, 17 June 2001

We started this morning with the "optional" wakeup call - who wants to miss anything? - looking for the waved albatross. After some birding and breakfast, we landed at Punta Suarez for our first walk. What a way to start! We enjoyed the company of sea lions, the beautiful bright red marine iguanas, blue footed boobies in performing their wonderful dance, and of course the stately albatross. In the afternoon we got our first deep-water snorkel under our belt. The water was much colder than we Texans are used to, but like everything in life (or at least on this trip) it was worth the effort!
