Genovesa Island

Birds, birds, birds. We spent the day inside a caldera that the Polaris can motor into. Once inside we landed at Darwin Bay where we were treated to wonderful displays of birdlife including gulls, frigate birds (including the males with their inflated pouches), and our first sighting of the red footed booby. After the birds we had a chance for a deep water snorkel and fabulous marine life in the (cold) water. In the afternoon we took a lovely walk up Prince Philip's Steps and were lucky enough to see not only red footed and Nazca boobies, frigates, storm petrels and iguanas but also the hunting owl. This evenings meal was an outdoor barbecue - just like home! The evening was capped by a little star gazing. How cool to see both the Southern Cross and the Big Dipper in one GIGANTIC sky.
