At Sea
Days at sea were spent lounging about, reading, snacking and learning. Here is a list of some the fascinating lectures we were treated to on our voyage:
"Venice - a City, a Republic" - Robyn Woodward "Adventured in Journalism" - Robin MacNeil "Knights of St. John" - Robyn Woodward "Rocks in Action - Geology of Southern Europe and the Mediterranean Sea" - Jim Kelley "The Greeks in Sicily" - Robyn Woodward "The Columbian Exchange" (movement of plants, disease etc. between old and new worlds) - William Lopez-Forment "The Borderland Between Fact and Fiction" - Robin MacNeil "The Personality of Spain" - David Barnes "The Influence of Islam" - David Barnes "The Barbary Pirates" - Robyn Woodward "Oceanography of the Mediterranean Sea" - Jim Kelley "Do You Speak American?" - Robin MacNeil
These lectures onboard Lindblad ships make all the difference. The lecture staff is well-traveled, well-read, well-qualified and great company. Click here to learn more about these folks.
(We also saw many fascinating videos, including "Around Cape Horn", an amazing film shot by Irving Johnson on a masted ship as she sailed around the horn in 1929. This man was climbing up the main masts in 80 foot seas to get the shots in this film. He always laughed, and everybody made it home safe, but what a wild ride!)
