The Scott Monument

The Scott Monument is 200ft tall, and the top can only be reached by climbing the 287 steps. Bo, Vanessa, Doug and Celeste climbed up for the view. It was started in 1840, finished in 1844 and cost approximately £16,000. Oh, Scott is Sir Walter Scott, an Edinburgh native and author of the Waverly stories.

Playing peek-a-boo, about 2/3 finished with the climb.

Looking across Princes Street toward the sea.

Opposite direction - the rock outcrop is basalt, very similar to where the castle is built.
